Meng Bo 58% / BoHyun Park 42%. Meng is the editorial selection: her size, timing and experience fit the first round, which Park has given away in both tournament fights, and her recent grappling defence makes Park's clinch route harder than it looks.

Meng made her professional debut in November 2013 with a decision win over Zhang Weili, who became a two-time UFC strawweight champion, and built most of her record on regional cards in China and Russia. In ONE Championship she knocked out Laura Balin and Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol in the first round and beat Samara Santos, before Ritu Phogat wrestled her to a decision in the atomweight Grand Prix and Tiffany Teo submitted her in her strawweight debut.

After most of 2022 at Jackson Wink MMA, she knocked out Jenelyn Olsim in 24 seconds, beat Dayane Cardoso and the previously unbeaten wrestler Chihiro Sawada, and lost to Ayaka Miura by armlock and to Xiong Jing Nan on the cards. In the Road to UFC she swept all three cards against Arisa Matsuda, then edged Deep Jewels champion Machi Fukuda by split decision.

Park started kickboxing in middle school, took up MMA in high school and turned professional in 2018 at 19. She won the Double G FC atomweight title in Korea, avenged a decision loss to Hyun Ji Jang with a third-round rear-naked choke, and lost by armbar to Ana Palacios in 2022 and by split decision to Aira Koga in 2024.

Since then she has won six straight, including a fourth-round stoppage of Momoka Hoshuyama for Shooto's interim strawweight title in Japan. In the tournament she lost the first round to Dong Huaxiang before winning a split decision, then cut Farida Abdueva with an elbow and dropped her with a left hook to win a unanimous decision as the underdog.

The Story of the Fight

Advantages, worst cases, gameplans — and the patterns underneath

Can Park's late-round rush beat the veteran who once beat Zhang Weili?

Park has dropped the opening round in both tournament fights before taking over with pressure, elbows and conditioning, and against a veteran with Meng's size and timing that slow start is the habit most likely to cost her. If Meng banks the first five minutes and makes Park pay on the way in, the late surge has to be decisive rather than merely steady.

The Deep Read

The clearest pattern in this matchup is the round-by-round story of the tournament. Park lost the first round in both of her fights: Dong Huaxiang took her down three times, and Farida Abdueva out-struck her at range. Both times she took over from the second round with pressure to the fence, body punches, short elbows and a late takedown, and her conditioning carried the third. Meng's tournament was the opposite: she swept every round on every card against Arisa Matsuda and was patient but in control early against Machi Fukuda.

Park is a pressure boxer who prefers short, compact punches and the shoulder roll, mixes in low kicks and has drilled elbows and knees for close range. That worked against a left-handed grappler and against a taller kickboxer who faded. Meng is a different problem: two inches taller, longer and heavier at this weight, with three first-round knockouts in ONE. A pressure fighter who walks forward to find her range gives Meng the target her best finishes came from, and even without a knockout, cleaner, heavier shots on Park's entries win rounds.

Park's route lives on the fence. Meng's worst losses have come when opponents controlled her: Ritu Phogat with wrestling, Tiffany Teo with a rear-naked choke, Ayaka Miura with a judo armlock. Park is not a grappler of that level, but she clinches well, lands elbows and found a takedown in both tournament fights. Meng's counter-evidence is recent: eight or nine months at Jackson Wink MMA, where she said her wrestling improved, a decision over the previously unbeaten wrestler Chihiro Sawada, and fifteen minutes of defending Fukuda's throws.

Both women's recent wins have gone to the judges. Across the tournament, Meng won 15 of the 18 round scores awarded in her bouts and Park won 11 of 18. If the fight is level after two rounds, Park's pace in the third is a real edge. If Meng takes the first cleanly and splits the second, Park needs a dominant final round to win.

Path to Victory

Meng Bo

Use her length and the heavier frame to make Park pay on every entry, bank the first round while Park is still reading her, and keep the fight in the open or turn the clinch so that Park's pressure never builds a second-half surge.

Why they win
01
Primary route

Use her length and heavier frame to make Park pay on every entry, bank the first round while Park is still reading her, and keep the exchanges in the open or turn the clinch so that Park's pressure never builds into a second-half surge.

02
Supporting evidence

Meng is 24-8 with eight knockouts, six submissions and ten decisions. She beat Zhang Weili in their shared debut, knocked out three ONE opponents in the first round, handed the wrestler Chihiro Sawada her first loss, and won 15 of 18 round scores in the tournament, sweeping Arisa Matsuda and edging Deep Jewels champion Machi Fukuda.

The gameplan
  1. 1
    Entry

Lead with the jab and straight punches; punish Park's first steps forward rather than waiting for her to arrive.

  2. 2
    Position

Circle off the fence and pivot out of the clinch instead of letting Park lean on her; break with a punch, not a retreat.

  3. 3
    Adjustment

In the third round, win the exchanges rather than chase a finish, and defend the late takedown Park found in both tournament fights.

Path to Victory

BoHyun Park

Close the distance early rather than late, put Meng's back on the fence, and win the second and third rounds with pressure, body punches, short elbows and timely takedowns, as she did against Dong and Abdueva.

Why they win
01
Primary route

Close the distance early, put Meng's back on the fence and win the second and third rounds with pressure, body punches, short elbows and timely takedowns, as she did against Dong Huaxiang and Farida Abdueva.

02
Supporting evidence

Park is 10-3 and has won six straight, including a fourth-round stoppage for Shooto's interim strawweight title in Japan. In the tournament she came back from losing the first round twice: she out-landed Dong 24-8 in the third round of a split-decision win, then cut Abdueva with an elbow and dropped her with a left hook to win a unanimous decision as the underdog.

The gameplan
  1. 1
    Entry

Shorten the feeling-out phase; pressure behind the jab and the low kick from the opening minute so the first round is not given away.

  2. 2
    Position

Make the fence the main range: head position, short punches and elbows, and level changes when Meng's weight is on the cage.

  3. 3
    Adjustment

Keep the pace high for all fifteen minutes; her best rounds have come when opponents slowed.

Danger Zone

How Meng Bo loses

  • She spends the first round reacting instead of leading, gives away a round Park expects to lose, and has to win a pace battle in the second half.

  • Park pins her on the fence for long stretches, as Phogat did, and the elbows and late takedowns win the last two rounds.

Danger Zone

How BoHyun Park loses

  • She walks into Meng's punches while closing the distance and loses the first round clearly, leaving herself needing to win the next two.

  • Meng's size neutralises her clinch, and the elbows that worked against a fading Abdueva never find the target.

Conditional tactical scenario, not a statistical projection

Round 1: what to watch

Round 1 is Meng's round on the evidence. Park lost the opening round in both tournament fights while she read her opponent, so watch whether she starts the same way and whether Meng's punches catch her on the way in. A knockdown or a clear edge here gives Meng a lead that Park has to overturn in ten minutes.

Conditional tactical scenario, not a statistical projection

Round 2: what to watch

Round 2 is where Park turned both tournament fights. Watch for her pressure to put Meng on the fence, body punches and short elbows from the clinch, and a level change when Meng's weight is on the cage. If Meng circles off and lands first, the surge is delayed; if Park takes the round clearly, the fight is level going into the third.

Conditional tactical scenario, not a statistical projection

Round 3: what to watch

Round 3 is Park's best round: she out-landed Dong 24-8 and dropped Abdueva in her last two. Meng has fifteen-minute experience against elite opposition but lost two of those fights on the cards. A Meng ahead should win the exchanges at range rather than trade in the clinch; a Park behind needs a big round, and her elbows are the likeliest way to get it.

Editorial handicapping

Meng Bo 58% · BoHyun Park 42%

Subjective analyst estimates for the announced opponent and distance. These are not calibrated outputs from the prediction model. Method probabilities are portions of the overall outcome distribution, not percentages conditional on winning.

Meng Bo is estimated at 58%, mostly on the scorecards. She has 32 professional fights, won 15 of 18 round scores in the tournament, and her size and timing fit the opening round that Park has given away in both tournament fights. The margin is modest because her last finish came in December 2022 and her semifinal was a split decision.

BoHyun Park is estimated at 42%. Her pressure, elbows and conditioning won rounds two and three against both tournament opponents, and she has never been stopped by strikes. The lean against her rests on the slow starts and on a size gap against a fighter who has competed against ranked strawweights.

The assessment is for 3 five-minute rounds at 115 lb. The six outcomes are mutually exclusive allocations conditional on a decisive result; method shares are not conditional on the fighter winning. Combined inside-distance probability is 27%, and a decision is 73%.

Meng rises toward 66% if her size shows from the first exchange and she keeps Park at the end of her punches; Park rises toward 52% if she wins the opening round for once or makes the fence her territory early. Scenario range for Meng Bo: 48–66%; the complementary range for BoHyun Park is 34–52%. These are judgment-based scenarios, not statistical confidence intervals.

Conviction
0
4/10

Editorial confidence in the evidence, not a win probability or a calibrated confidence interval.

Confidence reflects the quality and comparability of the evidence, not the size of the win probability. Lean: Meng Bo.

What backs the lean
  • Meng has 32 professional fights, including 15-minute decisions against ONE title-level opposition, and won 15 of the 18 round scores the judges awarded in her two tournament fights.

  • Park lost the opening round in both tournament fights, and Meng's height, reach and heavier frame make her the most dangerous opponent yet to start slowly against.

What limits it
  • Park is on a six-fight winning streak, has never been stopped by strikes and won the later rounds of both tournament fights on pressure and conditioning.

  • Meng's semifinal was a split decision, she has not finished an opponent since December 2022, and three of her four losses since 2021 came against opponents who controlled her on the fence or the mat.

  • These are subjective editorial estimates without out-of-sample calibration; numerical precision does not imply measurement precision.
